Family History

In 1965, Isabel Foyle arrived in Dunmore East intending to buy the Haven Hotel but instead purchased The Strand Inn due to its superior location. She placed her son Billy in charge, but three years later, her other son, Michael, returned from Toronto to take over, making the inn a thriving hub in the bustling fishing port. With a late license allowing trade until 4 a.m., The Strand Inn became a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. Michael, a charismatic businessman, rapidly expanded the business, with his wife, Edwina Halley, playing a crucial role in elevating its food reputation. Over the years, the inn has remained a family-run establishment, now managed by Edwina and their children, Clifden and Louise, with the fourth generation growing up by the beach. Today, The Strand Inn is renowned for its hospitality, quality accommodation, and excellent food, making Dunmore East a sought-after holiday destination.
